To serve as the focal point for women's health activities within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. To improve the health of women across the life span by stimulating and coordinating crosscutting activities in women's health research, health care service delivery, and public and health professional education and training within the Department of Health and Human Services; and with other government agencies, public and private organizations, and consumer and health care professional groups. To advise the Assistant Secretary for Health and serve as a critical Federal resource on scientific, medical, ethical, and policy issues related to the advancement of women's health.
