The NIP provides leadership for the planning, coordination, and conduct of immunization activities nationwide; provides consultation, training, statistical, promotional, educational, epidemiological, and technical services to assist health departments in planning, developing, and implementing immunization programs. The National Immunization Information Hotline is now available to respond to questions about vaccinations, vaccine-preventable diseases, and vaccines. The hotline serves consumers and health-care professionals. The most frequently asked questions include those related to new vaccines, new vaccination schedules, and vaccine safety.
