Default How do you manage your symptoms of ADD/ADHD?

I am currently taking Adderall XR 25 mg and Adderall 10mg. Even though I take my meds (most of the time) I occasionally forget the afternoon dose. I still am having issues. Not so much with distractability but with memory, anxiety, depression, mood and attitude issues, and fear of groups, losing my job and a bunch of other things. What are your ideas and thoughts on this? I am going to talk to the doc about it but wanted to find out what others who have ADD/ADHD do? I try talking to a co worker who also has this but don't get far there. He is willing to talk but I cant bring myself to talk about it with him much.

Thanks for your help

I too have ADD, I used to take Ritalin SR, I did well in college with it, but it always made me feel depressed. So, I asked my doctor about switching meds, she put me on Adderall (20mg in am, 20 in pm), and I had the anxiety too. Then she put me on Zoloft (an antidepressant) for the anxiety and depression. Eventually, the Adderall started messing with my thyroid, and I stopped taking it all together. Recently, though, I have started taking Straterra. It is wonderful. I take it once a day, everyday, when I wake up in the morning, and I don't need an antidepressant with it. There are no "highs" or "lows" and no second dose to take. I no longer have the anxiety or depression. Ask your doctor about switching your meds, there are quite a few different medications out there, and you just need to find what works for you.
I wasn't diagnosed until I was 17 years old. Before I was diagnosed, in order to focus on 1 thing, I had to turn off anything that would be a distraction (radio, tv, computer, etc.) or if I HAD to remember something, I left post-its all over my house and car. Come to think about it, I should have invested in 3M. Hey, I understand on so many levels. I hope I can help.
