Default Arthritis in foot?

I have been advised to have the bones in my big toe fused because of arthritis, has anyone had this done and if so, was it successful?

Hi,

I also have arthritis in my big toes and although my podiatrist suggested that surgery may be my best option for pain relief he and I agreed that I would first try new orthotics and a revamp of my foot wardrobe!

In my search for better sneakers I came across Earth Shoes. Because of their negative heel technology they relieve the pressure being placed on the front of my foot. What a difference! I alternate those with another pair of sneakers styled specifically for an overpronator like myself and have found tremendous relief. Not complete relief, but certainly enough to hold off on surgery.

Perhaps you have exhausted all your alternatives by now, but in case you haven't I wanted to pass this along.

Good luck!
