Default depressed mood to the point that I think about killing myself

I'm in a depressed mood to the point that I think killing myself is my only option out.

I have a crappy job at a retail store making 9.40 an hour, which is about 19,000 a year. There are people there around my age either making the same amount as me or more money and they're either cashiers or work in different departments. and none have a bachelors degree, just a high school diploma or maybe a GED or nothing at all.

I've had several jobs in the past that paid around 8 or 9 dollars an hour and weren't that great either.

I have a bachelors in history that I got three years ago but still can't find a good job that can pay what I want, which is around 35,000 or more starting off. And yes I have tried going to Monster.com and CareeBuilder.com to find a good job, but no luck.

Plus on top of that, I'm 26 and still live with my parents.

I see other people that I know that are doing fine and have moved on with their lives. But I'm still struggling. I feel like I'm going no where.

ohh gosh.. we'll I know you might feel like offing your self.. everyone has a fleeting moment like that at least once in their life.. but you must keep that focus of your life IN FOCUS.. it sounds like u have no plan of action.. so that's why you are wondering around not knowing what to do.. I would suggest maybe talking to a life coach.. and see if their suggestions help guide you to where you will be happy in YOUR life... Try not to compare yourself to others your age.. everyone is dealt their own cards in life that they have to play.. so just because someone appears to be doing sooo much better.. doesn't mean they are.. and just because they are doesn't mean that they had to go through all the things that you have to get there.. so... I hope that helps a bit.. take care and good luck.. try to refocus!!

Suicide is never a solution.
Just because you have a few setbacks doesn't mean you're a failure at life.
You're young. and you still have many years ahead to do what you want with it, and to reach your goals.
Alot of people have it much worse than you, just appriciate the good things you have, and don't let small things make you depressed.

Depression is not something that you can get out of by sheer force of will. It takes effort, support, and medical attention.

As for being depressed about life, God can help.

You are NOT alone. I'm 28 with a BA in Litt and my hubby and I live with my mother. It is very difficult to find a good job. People who say otherwise are blessed with just being in the right place at the right time. Suicide is not your only option. Hang in there. It will take a lot of time to find a job that you like in this day and age. Many people I know are in your situation. My doctor told me to get a sheet of paper and write down all of the positive things that you have going on. This should make you feel a little better. You should try it.
