Cipralex is a SSRI inhibitor and works like Prozac, it alters your brain chemistry to lift your mood. But like Prozac it can have some unwelcome side-effects.
More here: http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/100004710.html And: http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/depression/selectiveserotoninreputakeinhibitors_000147.htm I tried Prozac a few years when facing a very stressful stage (death of both parents) a few years ago and found they gave me major panic attacks, so I stopped taking them after a very short while. Depression is not an illness like catching a cold. It is a condition, a syndrome, in which the chemical balance of the brain is not optimal and you need to enhance it or correct it with medication.
Be aware that medications have side effects...some of the more common side effects with any type of psychiatric medication are weight gain and sexual dysfunction. |
