I noticed a few questions and answers on here about the flea medication, Comfortis. For those of you who are giving it to your dogs, have you noticed any excessively dry skin? My Schnauzer has always had problems with dry skin, but since he has been on the Comfortis (two weeks) the dry skin has gotten ridiculously bad. It is flaking and peeling like as if he had a really bad sunburn. (I know it's not that, it is on his chest and belly, and he's never outside for long periods of time anyway.)

Just this week I got Comfortis for my two dogs. They were being eaten alive by the fleas (I live in the South). One weighs 16 pounds; one 6 lbs. The larger one had chewed sores on her flanks, and scratched them on her head. She was on Advantage, antibiotics and antihistamines. I was bathing them at least twice a week with flea soap, and there would still be literally dozens of fleas on them within hours of bathing. I read the brochure about Comfortis in the vets office (who really hadn't had many people using it, yet). Within the first 30 minutes, I could literally see dead fleas falling off of them. Within a day, I couldn't see any fleas crawling on them, as I usually could. To see them sleeping peacefully for the first time in a couple of months is worth everything Comfortis cost. I just bathed them, and not one flea was on either!! This is the first thing that has really worked, and the price is fine, when compared to Capstar, etc. So I recommend it!!!

I too have used this. I also think this is the greatest thing ever, however after just 2 weeks I see fleas on my dogs. Not very many fleas, but some. I also will recommend it. Maybe after I use this a few months it will work better.
I live in Missouri and the fleas here are terrible. |
