i want to find out how much of each vitamin/ mineral our bodies need each day.
I also want to read about the detrimental effects of consuming too many vitamins (especially C and E) that have been known to cause kidney stones.. how much is too much? What are the worst vitamins to consume too much of? Are supplements recommended for everyone, or only for specific ages/ times of year, etc? Websites/ articles I can download are appreciated! Thank you! |

Usually the vitamins are stored in the body. So, it will be a good idea to stick to a healthy diet and take a short course of supplements once in a while. Thus, overdose of any vitamins is unlikely. You may take vitamins three days a week like Monday, Wednesday & Friday too.
Minerals are regulated by healthy kidneys and are adequate in a healthy diet. Usually the vitamin preparations contain some important minerals too. So, that same vitamin preparation will take care of the minerals also. Vit A, C & E should not be taken in excess. Puberty, pregnancy, recovery from injury/illnesses are the periods when supplements are useful. This site is very informative- http://ods.od.nih.gov/Health_Information/Vitamin_and_Mineral_Supplement_Fact_Sheets.aspx |
