An important addendum to Goldista's post.... if you take Vitamin A as high as 25,000 IU, make sure it is specifically Beta Carotene.
Goldista is correct that it is fat soluble and can build up in your system (same with vitamins D, E, and K), and over 10,000 IU isn't normally recommended because of it. If you take it as Beta Carotene, your body won't convert that to vitamin A until it needs it, so it's much harder to overdose on it. I'm also surprised a few things that haven't been mentioned that are really good for general skin health, which may prevent acne from being a problem in the first place. There's Fish Oil (which I use for my skin problems), Biotin, Silica (available naturally in Horsetail herb), MSM, and Hyaluronic Acid among the most popular items. Different people have different reactions to those different ingredients, so it's hard to say what may help most for you. I've personally taken Biotin (which helps for a lot of people), but it was too powerful for me, so it shows how different people can be. |

Vitamin A: 25,000 IU a day; reduce dose to 10,000 IU a day when healing is noticed or after 1 month. Use pills or drops. Women who are pregnant or considering pregnancy should not exceed 5,000 IU a day high doses can cause birth defects.
Vitamin B6 : 50 mg each morning. Long-term doses of more than 200 mg a day for chronic acne can cause nerve damage. Vitamin C: 1,000 mg twice a day. Reduce dose if diarrhea develops. Zinc/Copper : 30 mg zinc and 2 mg copper a day. Add copper only when using zinc longer than 1 month. Flaxseed Oil: 1 tbsp. (14 grams) a day. Can be mixed with food; take in the morning. Evening Primrose Oil : 1,000 mg 3 times a day.Can substitute 1,000 mg borage oil once a day. |

Use Tea Tree Oil from the health food store. I rub that on directly from the bottle and it helps breakout alot. Also get 100 % aloe vera gel and put it on your face. Those 2 things are the only things that ever really worked for me..even more than proactive. Good luck! I know how annoying acne can be..

Vitamin A can help with acne. The medication Accutane is nothing more than a high dose of vitamin A. You have to be careful taking too much vitamin A though!! It is a fat soluble vitamin which can accumulate in the body and cause serious health problems. I would start out taking only what the recommended dosages are on the supplement bottles and see how it goes. Good Luck
