... LONDON - Women who are genetically more prone to breast cancer will be taking part in a clinical trial to test a drug not previously used for the treatment of the condition. This path-breaking study involves carboplatin, a drug that is used in the treatment of lung cancer and ovarian cancer. Animal studies had indicated that the drug could be 20 times more effective in fighting breast cancer triggered by the presence of mutations in BRCA1 and BRCA 2 genes. ...
