The endocrine system is a control system of ductless endocrine glands that secrete chemical messengers called hormones that circulate within the body via the bloodstream to affect distant organs. It does not include exocrine glands such as salivary glands, sweat glands and glands within the gastrointestinal tract.

Diabetes insipidus (DI) is characterized by excretion of large amounts of dilute urine, which disrupts your body's water regulation. To make up for lost water, you may feel the need to drink large amounts of water. You are likely to urinate frequently, even at night, which can disrupt sleep or, on occasion, cause bedwetting.
