Proctitis is an inflammation of the rectum. Symptoms Symptoms are ineffectual straining to empty the bowels, diarrhea, rectal bleeding, a feeling of rectal fullness, left-sided abdominal pain, passage of mucus through the rectum and anorectal pain.
